Mr Zamri Bin Japar PETRONAS

Zamri Japar has been the Vice President, Group Health, Safety & Environment (GHSE), PETRONAS since 1 February 2025. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, United States of America. With 34 years of experience in PETRONAS’ oil and gas projects, facilities and manufacturing, Zamri has held various technical and senior roles spanning plant and asset management across domestic and international operations. He began his career on the frontlines and progressively advanced into multiple leadership positions at both corporate and plant levels, including a manufacturing leadership role for PETRONAS’ petrochemical facilities. In his current role, Zamri leads the GHSE function, strengthening HSE excellence across the enterprise. His focus is on ensuring GHSE remains strategic, agile and forward-looking in supporting PETRONAS’ transformation journey, while enabling the organisation to navigate an increasingly complex and dynamic operating landscape. As a leader, Zamri champions a culture of discipline and personal accountability as the foundation for achieving HSE excellence. He emphasises individual ownership of both outcomes and the safety, health and well-being of others. His leadership supports the organisation’s commitment to Mission: Zero-Possible, driving a collective responsibility toward a safer, more resilient and sustainable workplace.
