Dr Rohaida Ismail Institute for Medical Research (IMR), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Ministry of Health Malaysia

Dr. Rohaida Ismail is the Head of Environmental Health Research Centre, Institute for Medical Research, National Institutes of Health, Ministry of Health Malaysia. She holds a Master's degree in Community Medicine (Environmental Health) and has served as a Public Health Medicine Specialist since 2009, with expertise in environmental and occupational health. She completed the Ministry of Health Malaysia's Public Health Subspecialty Training in Environmental Health in 2019, specializing in climate change and health. Her research interests include climate-health risk and vulnerability, environmental toxicology, the health impacts of environmental degradation, and work-related non-communicable diseases. Dr. Rohaida leads and contributes to several national research initiatives, including Malaysia's Children's Environmental Health Birth Cohort Study and Human Biomonitoring Programme, which provide evidence to inform policies protecting vulnerable populations. She also served as the public health sector author for Malaysia's Fourth National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), contributing to the assessment of health vulnerabilities, climate risks, and adaptation strategies. Committed to translating research into policy and practice, she works closely with government agencies, healthcare professionals, and academic partners to strengthen climate-resilient health systems and advance environmental and occupational health in Malaysia.
